The goal of this project was to create a series of postcards that stand on their own as different pieces, while also working together as a system to promote the same event. The event was to promote the play Oedipus the King using undercoded imagery. The play Oedipus the King is about how the son of a king fulfills a prophesy of him killing his father and marrying his mother, even after attempting to avoid such fate. Thus the theme of this play revolve around fate, ignorance, truth, blindness, and arrogance.
They are an analogous purple and blue color scheme to convey different levels of the same sense of sorrow and tragedy. The images have a dark tone, with a piercing white focal point. This is used to relate figuratively to the piercing reality of the harsh truth that Oedipus learns, and literally to Oedipus piercing his eyes out.
